Sky Portrait Artist of the Year

I was on PAOTY!
I was on PAOTY!
Her's an article on cultured north east about it.
What a surreal experience, watching yourself paint, and hearing your own voice and (worst of all) seeing yourself pulling weird faces!
But It was great to see, especially seeing my fellow heat competitors again!
The day after it was filmed, I wrote down my thoughts while they were still fresh and also because I knew I would forget details by the time it came to be on TV. Here's what I wrote:
"Being on Portrait Artist of the Year was an amazing experience, from meeting all the fantastic artists to seeing how the TV show gets made. The Team that looked after us on the day were great, especially Emefa the assistant producer. Meeting Khadijah Mellah was great. she was a great sitter and a lovely person!
When Khadijah chose my portrait to take home I was stunned. The standard of work was really high and varied so when I got to the final three I was blown away!
Thanks to everyone involved, the crew, the presenters (Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell, who was lovely) and especially the judges (Kate Bryan, Kathleen Soriano and Tai-Shan Schierenberg).
Morag Caister, who won the heat, is a fantastic artist who produced a stunning piece of work on the day, A very deserving winner!"
So that's what I wrote, don't know if it makes much sense, but I was still buzzing when I wrote it! A couple of other things after watching it back. The comments the judges made about my work were fantastic! The other competitors are really nice and I think that Ruby Hagan, who was the youngest there on the day, will go far. Her Self portrait was stunning. Julie Wrights watercolours are great, such control! Steve Bennet has some great work and to do a drypoint on the day was very brave! Nathan Lowry produced a great painting of Khadijah as well and if his had been picked by her, I wouldn't have been disappointed or surprised. Anne Blankson-Hemans is really nice and I think was unlucky on the day. Preslav Kostov made a cracking painting and Mod White's painting on the day was great but her self portrait was absolutely beautiful, And she's a doctor! how can one person have so much talent? Morag Caister is a brilliant artist and a really nice and humble person. I think She'll go far!
A final thanks to everyone who supported me! you all made my heart (and head) swell!
big love!
